Chasing a UPS guy
I sit here waiting on another package. Its currently 'Out for Delivery' but because of their system, I have no clue when it will arrive.
I get at least 3 different drivers who deliver packages to my home. After talking to one of them, I found out (for residential deliveries at least) they have a computer that follow the packages, and calculates the best truck, route, and delivery pattern for the packages to save on travel time, gas, and unneeded trucks running similar routes. This is great, good way to cut costs and save on fuel.
Problem is for people like me who are waiting on that package have no clue when the delivery guy will show. Each of the 3 drivers have a consistent delivery time. Driver A 11:30-12:45, Driver B 14:15-15:20, Driver C 16:20-17:30.
My suggestion to this would be to add GPS to the trucks. Their system does track which truck a package goes on to, so I say, when a package goes out for delivery, add to the tracking page: PackageX is on Truck B 'Click here to track'. This takes you to a google like map. Based on the 10-15 min updates from the truck to a central server that gives its current coordinates, You can better estimate when a package will arrive.
Since a computer also selects the route, the map can also draw in the projected path of the truck so, in the event you miss him, You can rondavue with them at a different location to receive your package. (assuming it wasn't dropped off at your house)
Their bar code scanners update every 10-20mins with package stats. Just add GPS to the wands and send the GPS coordinates every time it updates. Cameras now a days have GPS stamps to their pictures, why not Delivery trucks.
UPDATE:
Just got my package, and chit catted with the UPS guy. They have new scanners that they are now using. They have GPS built in, and they are assisting the driver on their next location. Like a Garmin or TomTom device. Unconfirmed, but they might implement something in the future. We will have to wait.

Germs are good for you
More informoricals drive me nuts. I wish there was the c-chip. But I want to pick on all the comericals and products for 'cleaning and sterilization' your whole house!
Do these companies not realize that the germs and bacteria that is in the house is good for you?
Yes, I am right, they are good for you. Granted I'm no scientist, no doctor degree, and I am sure some one will dispute my argument.
The point I want to make is that your body needs germs to build and immunity to them. That flu shot you get when your very young? That is the flu itself. What they do is weeken the flu bug itself and inject it in to you. Your immune system has never seen the flu before, and attacks the flu. The flu is to weak to fight back, and your body learns how to fight against the flu. So in the future when the flu hits you full speed, your body can reconize it, and attack it with effecenty.
Same applies to daily germs and bacteria. Granted you shouldn't be devolgin your self into buckets of bacteria. But the stuff that lingers around the house does you good. Your body addapts to the mild germs from the door handle, shaking some ones unwashed hand, the pretzle thats been on the counter for a week, that chip that fell on the ground etc. Your body learns how to fight all these bugs.
You take some one who has grown up with parents who have purchased every single cleaning product in the world, picked up every speck of dust, plastic coated ever chair and sofa, bleached the whole house. When that kid steps out in 'world' bugs and germs hit the kid at full force, and the kids body doesn't know how to react. Thus the kid gets sick, his body is weak, and puts him out of commission for a few days while the body trys to figure out how to fight a bug/germ that is way to big.
Metaphore:
Just like riding a bike. When you were yonger, you learned how to ride that tiny kids bike. But now your an adult, and some one throws a motorcyle your way, You already know the basics and will be more likely to succeed on that bike, rather than some one who has never ridden a bike before. They are at a greater risk of crashing, and crashing hard

Battery backup clocks
what good is having a clock with batteries in it to save the time when power goes out. If it just decided to come back on with the wrong time. I just recovered from another power outage. Its currently 06:04. But my clocks are telling me its 06:30, 06:16, 06:28. What gives? Is this a manufacture defect? Or do the battery weild some great power that forces the clocks to speed up?

Get it right or get off the air
And you wonder why no one beleaves the news any more. None of them can get their stories strait
Why can't news companies get the news correct, or get the same result/answer. They are always pressed to get the news out first!!! even if is inaccurate. Or wrong. Just look at this current wild fire in Australia. You have to take an average to figure out how many deaths there are:
CNN says 166, NBC 171, FOX 171, ABC 166, CBS 135, heraldsun 166, mail.com 130
Mail, NBC, CBS and FOX all say 750 homes destroyed, CNN say 800
NBC, ABC and CBS say the temp is 117°F, while CNN still trying to be the big dog says 118°F.
This happens with every news story out there. The stations wonder why people don't stay tuned in to their only station 24/7. This is why. This is also why I am sure people like you tend to turn to the internet to get a variority of stories and draw your on conclusion to what is happing. I commend you on that. I support you going out and doing your own reporting. You will be 3 times more accurate as these big-wigs. And they wonder why twitter is fast becoming the first place people look for correct news.

C- Chip
Every one know that TV's now a days have V-Chips in them. This allows parents to block programing that's rate PG-13, PG-17, MA, etc. Great idea as long as you don't have a kid who is even a bit savy who will crack it. But I digress.
I would like to create something else. The C-Chip. What is it? its a chip that allows you block comericals. I am sick of seeing comericals for 'Male Enhancment', or for weight loss, Don't want to buy some over priced infomercial product, and I am sick and tired of the stuipd credit report crap.
How would it work? many ways. Best case I would want each comerical to have certin data attached to it. Company, Genera of item, Comerical number. That way you could block all comericals from 'Company A, C, X' I understand that this may be hard to do. FCC would have to set up a bill that would require all comerical to have said information tacked on so the TV can block it.
A simplar solution would simply have a UPC like code attached to it, and you simply see a comerical you dont want, You click 'block' on your remote and would never see that comerical again. Granted if the company comes out with a new comerical, you have to block that one too. But its a start.
This way no more 'girls gone wild', godaddy.com pervert during superbowl while kids are watching, 4 hr stiffy drugs, lame geico squids, or stupid blankets with holes in them.

Dugg crap day in and day out
a message I sent to digg.com today
I am unhappy with website that are repeatably dugg and promoted to the front page every single day. 3 site xkcd.com, cracked.com, explosm.net. I see these 3 sites every single day and it's quite irritating. I myself don't care for the content, Nor do I find the content in their articles relevant or thought provoked. I am also finding a lot of cross-media submissions for xkcd.com and explosm.net. I will find duplicate links both in News and Images, and both normally make it to front page. Is there any system in place to limit the amount of stories/pages submitted that reach front page from the same site? Or is it just power diggers abusing the system?

peta vs vegies
Watching an old Penn & Teller episode of them rippin on stupid PETA. then watched another video of a guy commenting on PETA's "reasons' video. Kinda occurred to me.
If PETA wants us to basically stop eating all meat and turn vegetarians. Wouldn't that piss off the environmentalist? Cause not only would we be eating the very foods that help clean the air of toxins and produce oxygen for us to breath, We would be creating more harmful emissions from the farmers machinery to produce more vegies?
Look at the corn industry. Since we are now using corn to produce ethanol for our gas, the price of an ear of corn has substantially increased. Just imagin the prices of all vegie's going up atleast 2 fold cause farmers wouldn't beable to produce it fast enough.
Not to mention farmland is shrinking cause of the population. The houseing market has been buying out farm land to expand the houseing population to react to the US population increase.
So Less farms producing less product, raseing prices, rasing vegitarians due to PETA incurging it. Not including the fact that more animals will be running free, unregulated (cause PETA says so) Eating up all the produce in the farm land that the farmers are trying to produce to meet the demand of the country.

Grass Greener
It just occurred to me while responding to a friends FB status:
Rich: Rich needs to get his shit together, cuz he can't live like this forever. He's come too far and don't wanna fail. He's got a new computer and a bright future in sales.
Me: do what i did, ball it all up like a snowball, pick it up and put it on your trebushay, and sling it across the street to your neighbors lawn and let them deal with it. That's what I do.... oh wait, i just had an epiphany. This would explain why the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence!
keep throwing crap at your neighbors, and the will learn how to deal with it, thus will grow and blossom. I guess we all need to start dealing with our own crap, learn how to over come it, and life will be much better off.
no a sermon, just a thought out of my puny head

Wii sports so unfair
Im annoyed at Wii sports for the points system.
Playing Wii Sports Bowling. They rank you based on your highest score. And will add or subtract your points based on how you compare to your high score. Why? This annoys me to no end. Out of beginners luck, I scored a 217. Had a turkey and a few stranded strikes. Since then my points keep droping. Why? cause I can't get anywhere close to 217. Just today I scored a 175, 160, 152, all of them I lost points. My average is around a 155 score game, but since I am no where close to my high score, I loose experence points. No fair nintendo, this game is rigged

My ranting poll.
There is a lot of stuff I see day in and day out that I want to get off my chest. So this will be my common ground to expell them. Shorts, longs, many, few, it will vary so stay tuned
